Don Westacott was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1928. After leaving school, Don spent 3 years on National Service in the Royal Navy. He then spent 10 years manufacturing furniture during which time he learned the upholstery trade. Don obtained a Diploma in Management studies at Cardiff University through a 5 year evening study course. At the age of 32 Don left the Furniture Industry to become a salesman in classified advertising with The Thompson Organization where after 10 years, became the Sales Manager of a group of regional newspapers. He next moved into the Insurance industry as an Independent Financial Advisor. He became a specialist in Company and Director Pension Plans. His successes there include setting up a business with 10 branches selling pension plans to businesses. Don furthered his education, obtaining a degree in Social Studies from Leeds University.

His next career change came when he set up an IFA network with a colleague. During the 8 years he was the Managing Director, their company became the largest network in the UK. Don has 3 daughters and 2 sons and a very extended family. He and his wife Ali are now residing in Leeds City Centre, England. His hobbies are Woodworking, Hypnotherapy, Collecting Art, Coaching Life and Business Skills.
